Let’s talk about your Instagram aesthetic…

What we're referring to is the look & feel of your feed. The overall design, color palette, editing style, attitude, if you will... what is the story you're trying to tell?

Do you own a bakery that creates stunning wedding cakes? Maybe you would have a light, bright & airy aesthetic. Or, do you own a trendy coffee shop? Maybe a dark & moody aesthetic would work for you...

So, how can you achieve a cohesive look similar to Jess & Lydia's?

First thing's first: Decide on your aesthetic.

What editing styles are you drawn to? Which makes sense for your business? If you love Jess's feed, but you're a children's toy company, that edit may not work so well for you.

Think about the subjects in your imagery. Will there be a lot of cool colors - greens and blues? Maybe you should go for a "cooler" edit. Once you've chosen your style, find apps and filters that work well for you. Some of my favorites are Tezza, VSCO, A Color Story, and 8mm.

Now that you have your predetermined aesthetic, your apps, presets, and edits in place, you need to create content! Make sure to keep your aesthetic in mind when creating content. For example, the @wooatlanta brand utilizes pinks, reds, browns, and off-whites, so I try to avoid shooting content that contains bright hues, neons, greens and blues.

Once I shoot, I run the images through A Color Story, using the same couple of filters each time. Then, if I feel like the image is lacking in warm hues, I add a blush or pink Color Fog to it.

When people are rapidly scrolling through IG and see those images, they immediately know that it's @wooatlanta
